I started with prophecies, and for me that will always be the "classic" guild wars game.

Prophecies has a longer story line than Factions, and the pace at which characters gain experience points is also much slower. However, I personally enjoyed the storyline in Prophecies much more than Factions. So, if you're not in a hurry to rush through the game, I'd recommend Prophecies.

Another difference is that Factions added two new character classes: assassin and ritualist. To use those as primary classes, you need to create a Factions character.

Forgot to mention, the games do connect. There is a boat that goes between Lion's Arch (prophecies) and Kaineng Center (factions), so a character you create in one campaign will eventually be able to travel to the other.

Factions also doesnt have the slow skill release of profecies via quests. About 75% of profecies skills can be gained through quests, whilst about 75% of skills in factions have to be gained from trainers, with all being obtainaible about 25% of the way through the game in kaineng centre.

All the games in the series connect once you get to the major port city of the game.

The only reason to play Factions first would be to play one of the two extra character classes in that game.

btw you don't need to install both games once you install one of them and activate the account using the code, you simply add the second code to the same game account, the second game is then available as are 2 more character slots.

call again when you get stuck

In factions you get to lvl 20 like...within a day In Prophecies it takes a good while and ur deep into the game before your lvl 20.. If i was you play Prophecies first because it is the first game & its funner to be a noob in it

You can always power lvl yourself to lvl 20 by doing factions quests once you get to Lions arch ( a city which you arrive in about....... quater of the way into the storyline.) u should be like lvl 14 when u get there and lvling urself to 20 via factions is very useful to tackle the harder missions with the undead

Imo Factions is very boring to start off in. It has a wonderful storyline but the game feels a bit....rushed. I think its alot easier to start with Prophecies and then go into the easy factions if u go from Factions to Prophecies the change might be a bit odd for u to handle and might decide to stop playing

but to summarize

Factions is alot shorter than Prophecies

in Prophecies u lvl up slow when factions you lvl up mega fast talking about a quest that gives 3k exp reward when a Prophecies quest which is twice as long gives 500 exp

&

like 80% of the ppl who play Prophecies tend to be kinda newbie in Factions i find that most ppl stick with the henchmen when Prophecies your pretty much forced to work with people unless u have a understanding of the game.

Hope i helped!

Which is why Prophecies is the best.

Go with Prophecies, you'll enjoy it from the start (presearing has beautiful scenery )

At the top of the Q&A forum is a sticky called "For the player on a budget" which explains the differences between the three campaigns.

And of course Prophecies has Pre searing and unless u start with a Prophecies charcter you will never see Pre. Like i said starting a new char in Prophecies after playing factions would be like ZOMG ware is ma lvls!!!!

i personally can always replay Prophecies but i know peeps do find it boring and after my last play though i belive it will be my last. theres only so much fun in a game

As Darcy Said there is indeed a Sticky i suggest you check it out~

but i dnt see you getting anymore info on the subject from what posters on this thread have given.
